Viking Jewelry—Glory of a Bygone Era

To many, jewelry is much more than just glittering stones that one wears to social functions in a bid to outshine others. If you study individual pieces of jewelry, especially museum jewelry, you can learn a lot about the craftsmanship that went into making these beautiful creations. Viking jewelry, for instance, reproduced from archaeological findings from Scandinavian regions, tells a lot about the history of that region. The Vikings were a brave people whose history is recorded from approximately 800 AD. The term Viking actually refers to Norse (Scandinavian) explorers, warriors, merchants and pirates who raided and colonized wide areas of Europe from the late 8th to the early 11th centuries.

Viking jewelry from Scandinavian countries like Denmark, Sweden and Norway are now reproduced in silver and other forms for those who love antiquity in ornaments. Viking antique pendants, earrings and bracelets are very much in demand because the shapes and designs of these ornaments are unlike any of those that are made nowadays.
