Giving antiques their due value

Antique jewellery and ornaments look great, but they must be maintained properly so as not to look age-worn. Old is not always gold, especially not when it is antique jewellery that hasnt been dusted or polished for years. Something as valuable as that, worthy of aristocrats and rajas of yore, must be preserved with care, not just thrown about in your everyday jewellery box along with other metals that may rust or react with your precious antique jewellery. You must remember that antique jewellery is usually made of silver, gods, gems and other precious materials, and though noble metals do not require much upkeep, it is good to wrap your antique jewelry in tissue paper and store in soft velvet bags. If you are storing them in a bank vault, take extra care to pack them tight in a cushioned box. Earrings should be placed in separate compartments so they dont tangle with chains.
